You're on the right track, just slightly confused between "Liceneses" and "Categories".

There are four licenses granted by the United States Parachuting Association; A, B, C, and D. They can be achieved at 25, 50, 200, and 500 jumps each, respectively. To earn your A license, you must achieve groups of skills in a number of consecutive jumps.

The skills are listed on the USPA A license card . A "Category A jump" (as I was referring to in my post) is a jump designed to let the student achieve all skills in "Category A" of the "A license" progression card.

If you loved it, make sure you keep doing it! No one has a playground as big as we do! And yes, once you earn that "A License" you will be allowed to jump at any (barring a very few, such as Skydive Hawii that requires a B License) USPA rated dropzone.

Hey there, just found your blog and really love it so far! I just jumped this past Saturday for the first time and can't stop thinking about it! I need to go again so bad!

I have a question for you though, in this post you mention you passed the Cat A qualifications on this first jump. Really?! I'm still new to the details of skydiving but I thought Cat A is like 25 jumps (or something like that) and after that, you can jump virtually anywhere. Is that the "certification" that you need so you can jump at most places for $20-30?

Thanks for the posts and if you have any insight for a new jumper wanting to get certified, I'd love to hear it!
